Always read and follow the instructions in the manual. The full manual, with step-by-step instructions for every carry position, the Newborn Insert, the sun canopy and the bib, is available at launch. Until then, this page covers the basics.
Carry positions
Three ways to carry: facing in, facing out, and on your back.
- Carry your baby facing in until at least 6 months old.
- Back carry from 9 months, once your child can sit unassisted.
Newborns
Use the Newborn Insert until your baby is about 23.6 in (60 cm) long, usually around 2 months. The insert raises your newborn to the right carrying height. For a newborn, also adjust the back panel. The Newborn Insert and bib are sold separately in the Newborn Starter Set.
Positioning checklist
- Keep your baby close enough to kiss, with their chin off their chest.
- Keep your baby’s nose and mouth uncovered and visible at all times.
- The neck support comes up to just under your baby’s ears.
- The legs are in the M-position, with the bottom lower than the knees.
- The feet don’t rest on an edge.
Seat
The frame forms a built-in seat, so both hands are free to hold your baby.
- Adjust the seat width so your child’s legs are supported knee to knee. The lower legs must stay free to move.
- For a young baby, tilt their hips toward you with your hands under their bottom, so their back keeps its natural rounded shape.
- Adjust the carrier until the knees are higher than the bottom.
Straps and hip belt
- Adjust the shoulder straps to balance the load between your hips and shoulders.
- Always use both shoulder straps.
- Wear the hip belt lower to see over your child’s head.
If your baby fusses
If your baby fusses, check for pressure behind the head, tight leg openings, restricted arms or legs, and temperature.
Warnings
- We don’t recommend hands-free breastfeeding in the carrier. Always watch your baby while feeding so they can breathe freely.
- Never ride a bike with your baby in a carrier.
